To provide a stretch packaging machine capable of simplifying a structure thereof and performing stretch film packaging with excellent appearance irrespective of the kind of a commodity to be packaged even when the commodity is easily damaged such as vegetables and fruits, or either a flexible tray or a hard tray is used.

The stretch packaging machine comprises a film holding mechanism 50, a lift mechanism 30, and a control unit 90. The film holding mechanism 50 holds a film fed to a packaging unit. The lift mechanism 30 projects a commodity T to be packaged against the film. The control unit 90 moves the film holding mechanism 50 synchronous with the timing at which the commodity projected against the film by the lift mechanism 30 is brought into contact with the film. The control unit 90 controls the movement of the film holding mechanism 50 according to the nature of the commodity T.
