PURPOSE: To recover Sr in a high yield by adding a surfactant to a liquid contg. coprecipitated Sr and Fe(OH)3 to render the precipitates hydrophobic and introducing fine bubbles into the liquid to stick them to the precipitates, which are then allowed to rise to the liquid surface.
CONSTITUTION: To an acidic liquid contg. severalWseveral tens mg/l of dissolved Sr is added a soln. of ferric ions such as FeCl3 or Fe2(SO4)3 in an amt. of 2W5 times as much the ions (as Fe) as the Sr content. The liquid is then adjusted to pH 10W13 with an alkali such as NaOH to precipitate Fe(OH)3. At this time, the Sr in the liquid is coprecipitated with the Fe(OH)3 or adsorbed on the Fe(OH)3 surface. Next, to the liquid are added anionic surfactants as principal and auxiliary capturing agents, e.g. 50W100 mg/l of sodium oleate and 20 mg/l of sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate, followed by stirring. Fine bubbles are introduced into the liquid, and the precipitates rendered hydrophobic by adhesion of the surfactants are sticked to the bubbles, allowed to rise, separated, and recovered.
