Title:
SUBMARINE OPTICAL CABLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001305403
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a submarine optical cable wherein the formation of a multi-fiber is easily realized.

Plural number of coated optical fibers or coated optical fiber tapes 10 are inserted into the central part, and a compound (jelly compound) 11 is filled simultaneously with the coated optical fibers. A pressure resistant layer 20 is composed of divided sectorial segments, and plural number of high tensile wires 30 are twisted and wound on the outer periphery of the pressure resistant layer 20 to fix the pressure resistant layer 20 in a cylindrical shape. The outer periphery of the high-tensile wires 30 are fixed by a metallic tube layer 40, on the outer periphery of which an insulating layer 50 is formed by an extruder. The inner layer side 50a of the insulating layer is composed of adhesive polyethylene of relatively low density and the outer layer side 50b of the same is composed of polyethylene of high density. Since the coated optical fibers or coated optical fiber tapes are directly inserted into the pressure resistant layer, the formation of the multi-fiber is easily realized.
