Title:
SULFATED BETA-GLYCOLIPID DERIVATIVE AS CELL ADHESION INHIBITOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH07285985
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the titled novel derivative which is a specific sulfated β-glycolipid derivative and useful as a selectin-mediated cellular adhesion inhibitor or the like effective for the treatment, prevention and the like of inflammatory diseases, mediated by the binding of a selectin observed in intercellular adhesion, and other symptoms.

CONSTITUTION: There is provided a novel sulfated β-glycolipid derivative useful as a selectin-mediated cellular adhesion inhibitor effective for the treatment, prevention and the like of inflammatory diseases, mediated by the binding of a selectin observed in intercellular adhesion, and other pathological symptoms, represented by formula I [wherein R is an acyl residue of a fatty acid; R1 is a radical of formula II (wherein m is 0 or 1; and n is an integer of 5-14); R2 to R6 are each the formula: SO3H, (substituted) alkanoyl, arylalkyl and arylcarbonyl; provided that at least two of R2 to R6 are the formula: SO3H; or R4 and R6 join together to form benzylidene; or R3 and R4 join together to form isopropylidene]. This compound is obtained by condensation of a compound of formula III (wherein Ac is acetyl) with an azide alcohol of formula IV (wherein Bz is benzyl), followed by reduction, acylation, sulfation and hydrolysis.
