Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a superhard composite member excellent in hardness and strength and capable of easily forming a large-sized sintered compact.
CONSTITUTION: This superhard composite member consists of superhard particles of at least one of diamond and cubic boron nitride and a bonding phase 2 of at least one among metal tungsten, metal molybdenum and a compd. of them with carbon and boron. The superhard particles have been dispersed in the bonding phase 2 having a three-dimensional cell structure. This composite member consists preferably of 30-70vol.% of the superhard particles and 30-70vol.% of the bonding phase 2.
