Abstract:
The invention provides a coated cutting tool with excellent resistance to abnormal damage. A tool substrate formed by a composite sintered body of TiCN-based cermet and WC-based cemented carbide is coated by a hard coating layer, wherein (a) tip material formed by the WC-based cemented carbide forms a front cutter surface on the TiCN-based cermet surface and an iron group metal-rich layer is formed on the surface of the tip material, (b) at the interface of the WC-based cemented carbide and the hard coating layer of the front cutter surface near the tip, the content of iron group metal components of the WC-based cemented carbide near the interface is 1.2 to 3.0 times of that of the inner side of the WC-based cemented carbide, and (c) at the interface of the TiCN-based cermet and the WC-based cemented carbide, a concentration gradient of the iron group metal components is formed and the concentration gradually decreases from the side of the TiCN-based cermet to the interface. The content of the iron group metal components of the TiCN-based cermet near the interface is 0.1 to 0.7 times of that of the inner side of the WC-based cemented carbide.
