Title:
SURFACE COATING WITH VERY HIGH RF LOSS FOR MICROWAVE ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6453599
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To make a thinner coating, having durability by applying a viscous material to the surface, thinner than the wavelength of the operating frequency, in such a way that the coating contains suspended metal grains smaller than the thickness of the coating but not smaller than specified penetration depth at the operating frequency. CONSTITUTION: The coating is covered with a suspension of Cu or conductor metal surface conductive grains in a viscous binder. The grain size is pref. larger than the penetration depth at an operating frequency and larger than 1/4 of the penetration depth, resulting in that the coating thickness is less than the wavelength. The binder is heated and turns into glass. To provide a bond of glass matrix, the Cu surface is coated with an oxidizing metal beforehand, resulting in that the coating is regenerative, adaptable to desired loss characteristics and capable of being mechanized, It is adapted for vacuum and is durable to heat.
