Abstract:
To provide a surface hardened steel component excellent in both of surface fatigue strength and flexure fatigue strength and a production method thereof.SOLUTION: After performing surface hardening processing and machine processing to a steel component, shot peening is executed so that a maximum value of a compression residual stress value is 1000 MPa or greater in a range from a surface to a position separated from the surface by 200 μm, and a minimum value thereof is 200 MPa or greater, then, the compression residual stress value is maintained in the range. Then, barrel polishing processing is executed for achieving surface roughness so that arithmetic average roughness Ra regulated by JIS B0601 (2001) is 0.2 μm or smaller, and ten point average roughness Rzjis is 0.6 μm or smaller. The surface hardening processing is preferably any of cementation hardening processing, and cementation nitriding hardening processing, and the steel component is a toothed gear for example.SELECTED DRAWING: None
