To provide a surface light emitting laser enabling efficient oscillation by and making a lateral mode with high output due to a large aperture to a stable single mode, electronic equipment provided with the surface light emitting laser, and a manufacturing method of the surface light emitting laser.
A first region which is an oscillation region of light is surrounded along a resonant direction of light, and since a current constriction layer is provided in the neighborhood of a second region whose effective refractive index has a slight difference between a refractive index of the first region, a current can be efficiently made to flow in the first region without largely changing the refractive index by the current constriction layer. A threshold current can be reduced, a high order light of the lateral mode is not guided in the first region, and light of the single mode is confined in the first region to be guided. The lateral mode emitted as a laser light can be made simple a single mode in spite of the high output due to the large aperture.
