To obtain the surface mounting type crystal vibrator which is adaptive to subminiature size and can be made at a low cost.
A vibrator main body 1 is made of a rectangular AT-cut crystal plate and has thick parts 11 and 12, which are thick at opposite short-side parts and a thin part 10 which is made thin on the top and reverse sides in other areas. A case main body 2 formed is in a rectangular parallelepiped shape as a whole and made of crystal, and a through-hole 20 is formed in the flank. The vibrator main body 1 is inserted into the through-hole 20 of the case main body 2 and thick part flanks 11a and 12a of the vibrator main body 1 and the flanks 21a and 22a of the through hole formation part of the case main body 2 are positioned being substantially flush with each other.
