To provide a surface roughening apparatus that enables surface roughening processing in a stable state without needing to enhance a dust collection capability even if a workpiece is a long object.
The surface roughening apparatus includes an accommodation tank 9 that comprises: cylindrical and nonmagnetic outer parts 501; and cylindrical and magnetic intermediate parts 502 which are mounted on a positioning members 54a, 54b concentrically with the outer parts 501 freely rotatably by means of a bearing member 81. The intermediate parts 502 are disposed between an inner wall 501a of the outer parts 501 and an outer wall 502b of the intermediate parts 502, and have voids g placed at prescribed intervals for enabling cut powder 80 to pass through. The intermediate parts 502 have four trapezoidal apertures 82 at the quartered positions in the circumferential direction, and have a plurality of apertures in the axial direction. The apertures 82 suck the air in the intermediate parts 501 and the cut powder 80 is transferred from these apertures 82 into the voids g.
