To provide a surface treatment device which prevents chippings from entering the interior of a mask covering a machining object, to thereby save space and improve performance and productivity thereof.
A solenoid coil generates a rotating magnetic field for moving magnetic abrasive grains into a storage container where a developing sleeve 132 and the magnetic abrasive grains are stored, and the rotating magnetic field functions to collide the magnetic abrasive grains to the developing sleeve 132. Then the mask 64 sheathes each end of the developing sleeve 132 to cover part of an external surface of the developing sleeve 132, to thereby prevent the magnetic abrasive grains from colliding. Further a driven shaft 73 functions to hold the mask 64 in a manner being rotatable about a shaft core P by a bearing 79, and the mask 64 is arranged so as to generate a rotating force about the shaft core P by virtue of generation of the rotating magnetic field.
