PURPOSE: To obtain a fibrous material retaining sustained releasability for a long period by impregnating a fibrous material with a sol-like sustained releasable composition containing perfume and/or agent, ethyl silicate, etc., followed by gelling said composition.

CONSTITUTION: A fibrous material is impregnated with a sol-like sustained releasable composition adjusted to ca.5-6 in pH comprising (1) 100 pts.wt. of ethyl silicate, (2) 1-300 pts.wt. of a perfume and/or chemical agent, (3) a solvent (e.g., water, alcohol), (4) a catalyst (pref. a catalyst for sol-gel process), (5) an acid such as tartaric acid and (6) an organic base such as tertiary amine, followed by gelling said composition, thus obtaining the objective sustained releasable fibrous material of high durability with said perfume, etc., encapsulated and/or included into a composite polymer matrix.
