Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a novel cyclopropanecarboxylic acid ester, capable of not only manifesting high mothproofing effects but also excellent in persistence of the mothproofing effects without discoloring clothes and useful as an insect repellent for the clothes.
CONSTITUTION: This 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-4-methylbenzyl 2,2,3- trimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate is expressed by the formula. The compound expressed by the formula is obtained by heating 2,2,3- trimethylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid or its reactive derivative with 2,3,5,6- tetrafluoro-4-methylbenzyl alcohol in a solvent such as benzene, toluene or ether using sulfuric acid, etc., as a catalyst and removing water formed as a by-product according to the operation such as azeotropic distillation.
