Abstract:
PURPOSE: To easily produce an alcohol while suppressing side reactions and to enable the reuse of catalyst by reacting an aldehyde, etc., with an alcohol in the presence of a specific catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: The alcohol can be produced by reacting an aldehyde or a ketone with an alcohol at room temperature to 150°C for 1-10hr in the presence of a catalyst produced by supporting a metal alkoxide (preferably zirconium alkoxide, etc.) on a solid oxide having surface hydroxyl group (e.g. silica gel, zeolite or alumina).
