To provide a method for synthesizing a monoterpene alcohol from a hemiterpene alcohol in a short time without adding a catalyst.
The method for producing the monoterpene alcohol is characterized as synthesizing the monoterpene alcohol from the hemiterpene alcohol using high-temperature and high-pressure water (subcritical water or supercritical water) without adding the catalyst. The method comprises using the high-temperature and high-pressure water (the subcritical water or supercritical water) at 100-400°C temperature and 0.1-35 MPa pressure as a reaction solvent. The method is to synthesize the monoterpene alcohol from the hemiterpene alcohol in a one-stage process. Furthermore, the method is to selectively synthesize a prescribed reaction product by varying the reaction time.
