PURPOSE: To measure the transmission line utilizing rate of a line by providing a data supervising section, counting the number of flags transmitted on the line, detecting a specific frame at the end of each frame as required and adding the flags.
CONSTITUTION: When an observing command provided with a prescribed observing time from a node 1 is issued to a data supervising section 16, a control section 163 in the supervising section 16 is started. The control section 163 starts a timer section 164 and also a detecting section 162. The detecting section 162 starts the supervision of data transferred between a data receiving section 14 and a data transmission section 15 and when a flag is detected by the supervision, the section 162 increments the content of a memory 161 for counter by only one. When timeout of the timer section 164 occurs, the control section 163 issues a count value transfer command to the detection 162. The detection section 162 reads a count value from the memory 161 for count and transfers this count value to the control section 163. The control section 163 calculates the transmission line utilizing rate of the line based on the count value from the detecting section 162, the line speed and the observing time.
