To provide a system and a method for centralized management, by which user's burden required for maintenance and management in a distributed system environment is reduced.
A distributed system in which a plurality of terminal devices are mutably connected through a plurality of connecting lines, is provided with a terminal device for automatically selecting a terminal device suitable as a health check server out of all the terminal devices belonging to the distributed system while referring to a terminal device element table storing information on the throughput of each of the terminal devices and the connecting lines, a connecting lines physical element table storing information on the limit conditions of the individual connecting lines and a user request element table storing information on request items to be considered when selecting the terminal device to become the health check server for performing the centralized management of fault and the terminal device selected as a health check server collects managing information from other terminal devices and performs the centralized management of a fault, which has occurred in the distributed system.
