Abstract:
PURPOSE: To transfer data between remote points through physical barriers. CONSTITUTION: Plural states, which are determined by the position of a pedal, of a pedal switch 14 of an organ are sensed in a peripheral unit 12. Power to the peripheral unit physically separated from a host unit 16 is given through a primary winding 34 and a secondary winding 20 which ate magnetically coupled. A clock signal for the peripheral unit and a host unit is given by a power oscillator 30 which drives the primary coil or a tank coil of an oscillator in the host unit. Consequently, power and the clock signal are transmitted from the host unit to the peripheral unit through coupled windings, and data is sent back to the host unit through infrared radiation. Or data is sent back through coupled coils by loading the power oscillation circuit of the host unit during generation of data pulses in a data encoder 26 of the peripheral unit.
