PURPOSE: To easily designate a trimming area by movement-displaying the frame in accordance with the instruction input of the reference position of the trimming area to execute trimming-processing.

CONSTITUTION: A user inputs a desired picture size in a picture size inputting part 2, pushes a picture size display execution button 3 and displays a picture size display part 4 on a picture display part 1. Next, the user moves a pointing device such as a mouse, for example, so as to move the position of the trimming area from the continuous line display frame to the broken line display frame. Here, the picture size display part 4, for example, follows the pointing device and moves. While the user moves the pointing device, the size of the picture size display part 4 does not change. The trimming area is settled by clicking the pointing device, for example, at the point of time when the trimming area is decided.
