Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify an adapter and prevent loading thereof to a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus not adaptable to use of the adapter by providing a groove on the upper surface of a cassette adapter.
SOLUTION: A cassette 1 is cassette adapter adaptable to a digital format for business use. In the case of loading the cassette adapter into a loadable magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus, a shutter 4 corresponding to a groove 2 provided in the supper surface of the cassette adapter 1 moves when the cassette adapter 1 is inserted into a cassette holder 3. Thereby, the cassette adapter 1 is identified and setting of the mechanical system and electrical system is changed in the magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus. Moreover, when the cassette adapter 1 is loaded to the non-allowable magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus, a stopper collides with the groove 2 provided on the cassette adapter 1 when the adapter is inserted into the cassette holder to reject insertion of the cassette adapter 1.
