PURPOSE: To stop a package rotating in takeup unit in the condition that yarn splicing is not required, no inertial winding is involved, and there is no risk of ribbon wind occurrence.

CONSTITUTION: When the take-up yarn length on a package 3 measured by a sizing device 17 has attained a set value some prior to the full tube valve, control of a drum motor 9 inverter 8 is commenced so that the package revolving speed is decreased gradually to become a good low level at the time of full tubing. When the taken-up yarn length has become the full tube value, the package is lifted up by a cradle lifter 14 along with application of a package brake 15 to generate lifting/down to drum rotation stopping or just before stopping.
