PURPOSE: To reproduce information immediately from the begining of sentences according to demand by disposing the heads corresponding to recording tracks in correspondence to zones for a magnetic recording medium having a plurality of recording tracks equally divided to a plurality of zones.

CONSTITUTION: When the selector Sa activated by the reproduction demand signal from terminal Pa receives the boundary signal B from the magnetic drum D side, the head H1 corresponding to the specific track T1 of a magnetic head group HGa is connected to the line La. In the head H1, the information having been recorded in that zone is reproduced from the beginning of the zone which passes in front of the head at that time and this information is sent to the terminal Pa via the line La. In this case, the same information portion has been recorded in the zone of the track T1 and therefore the information portion of the beginning of the sentences is reproduced irrespective of the zone passing at that time. When the reproduction of this portion is finished and the head group passes the boundary of the zone, the head H2 corresponding to the track T2 takes over this. Thereby, the information may be reproduced immediately from the begining of the sentences according to the demand.
