PURPOSE: To remove a runner and a gate without applying a force to a tape carrier by a method wherein a hole is made in the contact part, of the runner with the gate, or in a region including the contact part or in a region in one part of the contact part is which is formed in the transfer molding operation of the tape carrier.

CONSTITUTION: A hole 3 is made in a tape carrier 1a; a runner and a gate 4 are brought into close contact with the tape carrier 1a only partially. When the runner and the gate 4 are removed from the tape carrier 1a, the tape carrier 1a comes into contact with the runner and the gate 4 only in a small area because the hole 3 has been made in the tape carrier la. As a result, the close contact of the runner and the gate 4 with the tape carrier 1a becomes very weak. Consequently, the runner and the gate can be removed without applying a force to the tape carrier la and without distorting it.
