PURPOSE: To achieve highly strong connection, in tape end connecting method to be employed in a string feed mechanism for making tension of thread to be fed to knitting machine constant, by providing a stopper section and engaging section at each connecting end.

CONSTITUTION: When connecting a tape 1, a stopper section 4 and engaging section 5 are provided on the center line of tape 1 at the positions separated by predetermined distance to the inside from both ends 2, 3. The stopper section 4 is formed with a rectangular through-hole 7 and a cut 8 in the center line C of such length as approximately same with the tape width. While the engaging section 5 is formed with a neck section 10 having approximately same width with that of the through-hole 7 and proper length made by cutting both sides in square and a head section 11 from the neck section 10 to the end 3. Then it is inserted while crossing the head section 11 perpendicularly with the through- hole 7 and cut 8, and each tape end 6, 9 is pulled longitudinally to connect both tape ends 6, 9.
