To provide a tape feeder where a size in a vertical direction is compact.
A carrier tape feeding mechanism 3 is arranged in the tip 1a of the tape feeder 1. A cover tape peeling mechanism 5 is disposed at a back side compared to the carrier tape feeding mechanism 3. An electromotive driving device 6 is installed between both mechanisms 3 and 5. The driving device 6 is provided with a motor 11 and a driver 15 driven by the motor 11. A first driven gear 12 and a first cam 21 are positioned at a tip side of the tape feeder 1, and are arranged in the driving device 6. A second driven gear 13 and a second cam 22 are positioned on a back end side of the tape feeder 1 compared to the motor 11, and are installed in the driving device 6. The carrier tape feeding mechanism 3 is coupled to the first cam 21 through a tape feeding lever 32 turned by the first cam 21. The cover tape peeling mechanism 5 is coupled to the second cam 22 through the driven lever 61 and a coupling rod 62, which are turned by the second cam 22.
