PURPOSE: To achieve that a magnetic tape travels stably by a method wherein the magnetic tape along a tape guide is pressed to its width direction, the end edge part of the magnetic tape is brought into contact with a regulation face at a specific regulation part and the magnetic tape which has been brought into contact and which is being separated from a shaking face is suppressed by means of a protrusion part or the like.

CONSTITUTION: When a magnetic tape 51 is brought close to a tape guide 50, the lower end part of the tape 51 is deformed along a guide face 55a at a protrusion part 55, climbs over the guide face 55a and comes into contact with a tape-sliding face 52a at a guide part 52. In this state, the upper edge part of the tape 51 is curved along a first regulation face 53a which has been inclined. As a result, the tape 51 is pressed to the lower side and its lower end part comes surely into contact with a second regulation face 54a. Thereby, its height position is regulated. When the winding angle of the magnetic tape 51 with reference to the tape guide 50 is small at this time, the tape 51 whose lower end part is being displaced to the side of the tip part of a regulation part 54 along the regulation face 54a is suppressed by a suppression face 55b at the protrusion part 55. Thereby, it is possible to prevent that the tape 51 is separated from the sliding face.
