PURPOSE: To attain automatic tape loading of a tape wound in the form of a VTR by shifting and running at least one of a couple of loading leaders in the axial center direction of a rotary cylinder when the loading leaders extracting the magnetic tape approach mutually the other side of the rotary cylinder.

CONSTITUTION: When a loading motor 40 is driven, its torque is transmitted to a circular ring form loading plate 35 via a gear 39 to turn the plate counter clockwise. Simultaneously, the torque is delivered to a circular arc loading plate 45 with deceleration via a gear 47. Thus, the plate 45 is turned clockwise. As a result, the magnetic tape 31 is extracted by posts 42, 43, and 55, 56 and wound on the outer circumferential face of a rotary drum 34. When the posts 42, 43 and 55, 56 are made approached together at the other side of the rotary cylinder 34, a moving part 4B of the circular arc loading plate 45 is shifted in the axial center direction of the rotary cylinder 34 by a shifting mechanism 60. Thus, the magnetic tape 31 is stopped after being wound in crossing.
