Title:
TEE JOINT WELDING METHOD OF THICK PLATE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5942176
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To weld efficiently the upward tee joint of thick plates without generating weld defects, by welding the tee joint provided with a square groove having an adequate width with high electric current by using a composite wire.

CONSTITUTION: A side piece 3 which is held projected by a required width G from the top of a longitudinal material 1 of a thick plate is tack welded to the material 1 and further a horizontal material 2 of a thick plate in contact with the top of the piece 3 is tack welded to the material 1 at right angles thereto, thereby forming a square groove having 8±2mm groove width G. Both materials are welded with 200W450A welding current by using a composite wire having 1.6W2.4 diameter, whereby the welding of the upward tee joint is accomplished. The above-mentioned method provides high joint strength and is advantageous particularly with thick plates having about ≥16mm thickness.
