PURPOSE: To view plural frequently viewed teletext program by three operation times of key input by providing a display control circuit for displaying character signal sampling/decoding data stored in a storage circuit in a display area and compositing the output signals of a television of a television video signal processing circuit and the display control circuit by character synthesis signals from the display control circuit.

CONSTITUTION: This receiver is provided with the storage circuit 5 for storing the output signals of the character signal sampling/decoding circuit 4 and plural icons and the display control circuit for display the character signal sampling/ decoding data and the icons stored in the storage circuit 5 in the display area of a CRT 17. By inputting icon display signals by the icon display key of a remote controller, the plural icons are displayed on the CRT 7 first. When the icon is selected and established, a needed character program can be viewed. The icon is selected by inputting icon selection signals by the cross cursor or the like of the remote controller and the icon is established by inputting icon establishment signals by the establishment key of the remote controller.
