Title:
TEMPERATURE COMPENSATED QUARTZ TIMEPIECE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5948681
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To rapidly and automatically suppress the temp. change of a quartz vibrator, by using a reversible metal hydride for releasing and absorbing hydrogen corresponding to a temp.

CONSTITUTION: In a hermetically closed space formed by a heat insulating cap 8 and a ceramic base plate 7 forming the part of a head insulated hydrogen chamber having hydrogen gas stored therein, a quartz segment 1 supported by ring shaped support member 6 equipped with electrode pins 4, 5 and electrodes 2, 3 respectively connected to the pins 4, 5 are accommodated. In addition, the upper side space of the quartz segment 1 is filled with reversible metal hydride 9 and, when the quartz segment 1 is cooled, the hydride 9 rapidly absorbs hydrogen in the chamber 11 through the filter of the cap 8 while hydrogen is release to the chamber 11 from the hydride 9 when a temp. rises. By this method, the temp. change of the quartz segment is rapidly and automatically suppressed and the temp. compensation of a quartz timepiece is automatically performed in high preciseness.
