Title:
TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04190572
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a temperature difference battery of a large thermo-electromotive force per unit of a battery by drawing part of a thermoelectric semiconductor for a high temperature measuring electrode through a range including a temperature gradient to a low temperature range.

CONSTITUTION: A temperature difference battery is composed of a redox reaction system 2 consisting of electrolyte solution of a redox pair having a negative thermoelectromotive force is used, and a platinum plate for a low temperature measuring electrode 3 and a p-type thermoelectric semiconductor material for a high temperature measuring electrode 1 used for electrodes, where the p-type thermoelectric semiconductor is drawn through a temperature gradient range to reach a low temperature range. For a p-type thermoelectric semiconductor electrode, the high temperature side is electrified to be negative by seebeck effect, and the low temperature side is electrified to be positive, so the high temperature side is set for a negative pole, while the low temperature side is for a positive pole. The thermoelectromotive force of a temperature difference battery of this constitution is thus formed of the thermoelectromotive force of the p-type thermoelectric semiconductor, and the thermoelectromotive force of the redox pair serially connected with each other. A thermoelectromotive force per unit body of the battery can thus be increased.
