PURPOSE: To sufficiently display the strong rolling reduction effect of tempera ture difference rolling, and to secure the satisfactory plate thickness accuracy with regard to a temperature difference rolling method used at the time of manufacturing an extremely thick steel plate (for instance, that of ≥120mm thick) from an ingot and a steel ingot (continuously cast material, ingot-making material).
CONSTITUTION: This method constitutes a characteristic feature of predicting a plate thickness direction average temperature and a plate thickness direction temperature distribution of a material to be rolled in each rolling stage (S2), predicting an average rolling load of each rolling pass, based on the plate thickness direction average temperature (S4), and also, correcting the average rolling load, based on the plate thickness direction temperature distribution and predicting a true rolling load of each rolling pass (S5), and thereafter, determining the rolling reduction of each rolling pass extending from after water-cooling to before final one pass so as to become the maximum capacity of a rolling mill.
