The communication fault investigation method whereby the terminal investigates whether or not a communication path leading to the server apparatus 200 has a fault includes the steps of: a terminal communication section 106 for transmitting data to the server apparatus 200 and confirming possibility of respective communications between the terminal and an access point and between the access point and the server apparatus via a LAN path; confirming response of the server apparatus with respect to a request from the terminal; and displaying the confirmation results in each step on a terminal display section 107 of the terminal. Further, a server application program 230 requests a server basic program 220 to make a response and discriminates the occurrence of a fault depending on whether or not the reply is obtained from the server basic program 220 within a prescribed time.
