To provide a thermal print head and a thermal printer in which a recording medium can continuously undergo image formation, image elimination, or overcoating.

On a heat dissipation substrate 11, a resistor substrate section 12A and a driving circuit substrate section 12B are provided. On a supporting substrate 13, a glaze layer 14 is formed, on which a heating resistor layer 15 is formed. On the heating resistor layer 15, an individual electrode 16 and a common electrode 17 are formed, and a heating element group is formed, in which the heating resistor layer at a first gap G1serves as a print heating part 15a. An opposite electrode 18 is formed so as to be opposed to the common electrode 17 interposing a second gap G2, and a single heater having an elimination/overcoat heating part 15b is formed. A protection layer 19 coats all of them. A drive IC 21 is mounted on a driving circuit substrate 20 with a sealing agent 22, and a bonding wire W electrically connects a circuit terminal of the driving circuit substrate 20 with the individual electrode 16.
