Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a thermal recording material having high sensitivity, good in the stability of raw preservability and a developed color image and having good printing quality by providing a thermal color forming layer containing an N-substituted anthranylic acid derivative or a metal salt thereof as a coupler on a support having a pigment-containing undercoat layer.
CONSTITUTION: An undercoat layer based on pigment (e.g.; baked kaolin) is provided on a support and a thermal color forming layer containing an electron donating leuco dye and an electron acceptive compd. is provided on the undercoat layer. In this thermal recording material, an N-substituted anthranilic acid derivative represented by either one of formulae I, II (wherein R1 is H, an alkyl group or an aryl group, R2 is an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aryl group, an alkylamino group, an alkyloxy group, an aryloxy group or an arylamino group, X is O or S, M is an n-valent metal atom and n is an integer) or a metal salt thereof is added to the thermal color forming layer. As a result, the thermal recording material imparting a developed color image good in stability is obtained.
