Abstract:

To acquire a clear enough image by suppressing the generation of foaming of a coating solution and bubbling on a coating surface by using a small amount of dispersant which excels in dispersability of a developer.

The thermal recording medium has a thermal coloring layer containing a leuco dye and a developer on a supporting base material, and this thermal coloring layer contains polyvinyl alcohol resin containing carboxyl group, which has a structural unit expressed in the formula (1). In the formula, R1, R2, R3 each independently shows hydrogen atom or alkyl group, X indicates alkylene group having carbon numbers of 4-50, Y shows hydrogen atom or alkali metal.
