To provide a thermal transfer medium for ink-jet and a thermal transfer method by which it is possible to thermally transfer a thermal transfer medium on which an image is formed by an ink-jet process to a pliable material such as cloth to which an image is thermally transferred without deteriorating the fastness of a transferred image and spoiling the feel of the material to which an image is transferred, and also an item to which an image is thermally transferred.
In the thermal transfer medium for ink-jet comprising a support 2 and a thermal transfer layer 3 formed on the support 2, the melt point of the thermal transfer layer 3 is 120°C or lower and the melting viscosity of the thermal transfer layer 3 at 150°C is 10,000 cPs or less. An article 6 to which an image is transferred is formed by this method comprising process to form an image on the thermal transfer layer 3 of the thermal transfer medium by an ink-jet process, a process to cause the thermal transfer layer 3 to adhere to a material 4 to which an image is transferred, a process to thermally transfer the thermal transfer layer 3 to the material 4 and a process to peel the support 2 of a thermal transfer sheet from the thermal transfer layer 3. A material 6 to which an image is transferred is formed.
