Title:
THERMAL TRANSFER RECORDING MEDIUM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS63251289
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enhance the transfer properties of an ink layer from a base sheet to obtain a good dot-reproducibility, by a construction wherein an intermediate layer made of a material having a critical surface tension smaller than that of a body to be recorded is formed between the base sheet and the ink layer.

CONSTITUTION: An intermediate layer 2 is formed between a base sheet 1 and an ink layer 3, and the intermediate layer 2 is made of a material having a critical surface tension smaller than that of a body to be recorded. As a result, when being heated and melted in recording, the ink layer 3 tends to be shaped into a sphere due to the surface tension of its own on the intermediate layer 2 with a small critical surface tension. On the other hand, the sphered ink layer 3 is attracted by the body to be recorded having a larger critical surface tension than that of the intermediate layer 2 to be easily transferred to the side of the body to be recorded. Therefore, independently of the surface roughness of the body to be recorded the possibility of missing images is reduced and the dot-reproducibility is enhanced, whereby a recording quality is improved.
