Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the copolymer convertible to ceramics through thermal decomposition, by reaction of polysilazane with a polyborosilazane having B- contg. cross-link, specific B/Si ratio and number-average molecular weight and a thermoplastic Si-contg. polymer.
CONSTITUTION: The objective thermosetting copolymer can be obtained by reaction of (A) polysilazane with (B) a polyborosilazane 0.01-3 in B/Si atom ratio and 200-50000 in number-average molecular weight having cross-links of formula I (R1 is H, halogen, 1-20C alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, alkoxy, OH or amino), formula II (R2 is residue bound to the nitrogen atom in nitrogen atom-bearing groups among R1), formula III, or formula IV (at least two of a total of six atoms composed of respective three nitrogen and boron atoms are used for cross-linking, and R1 may be bound to the rest of the atoms) and (C) a thermoplastic silicon-contg. polymer 100-50000 in number-average molecular weight.
