To obtain the subject composition capable of exhibiting excellent weather resistance and good drying properties over a long period and useful as a main component of an acrylic urethane coating material by including an isocyanate resin in a specific proportion based on an acrylic polyol composition.
This composition comprises (B) an isocyanate resin in an amount of 5-65 wt.% based on 100 wt.% of (A) an acrylic polyol composition comprising (i) 50-89.9 wt.% of methyl methacrylate or ethyl methacrylate, (ii) 0.1-10 wt.% of a polymerizable ultraviolet ray stabilized monomer represented by the formula (R1 and R2 are each H or methyl), (iii) 10-30 wt.% of a hydroxyl group- containing polymerizable monomer, (iv) 0.1-10 wt.% of a carboxyl group- containing polymerizable monomer and (v) 0-39.8 wt.% of other polymerizable monomers [with the proviso that the sum total of the components (i) to (v) is 100 wt.%]. The composition preferably has 5,000-40,000 number-average molecular weight. Furthermore, the composition can be used directly or by, as necessary, adding a pigment, etc., and preparing a coating material.
