Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an improved thin electric connector including a new contact and a housing structure.
CONSTITUTION: An electric connector 150 comprises an insulating housing 152, and the housing comprises a terminal receiving passage 22 for fixing a terminal insertion shaft for receiving a terminal member to be fitted. A blanked and molded sheet metal contact member 154 comprises the housing upper wall and lower wall having a contant edge installed in the passage, and a terminal 36 projected from the housing, and the terminal receiving passage is extended in a specific direction between the upper and lower walls. The contact edge of the contact member is inserted into the slot, is generally flat, and comprises a terminal receiving slot 38c. The contact edge and a flat surface of the slot are generally installed in a transverse direction to the terminal insertion shaft. The contact member includes an intermediate part 168 installed near the contact edge, for giving the additional flexibility to a contact arm at the contact edge.
