Title:
THIN FILM MAGNETIC HEAD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS59177721
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obviate giving any mechanical damage to a recording medium by using org. materials having a small modulus of elasticity in constituting supporting materials which have a sliding contact surface to contact slidingly with a recording medium and a magnetic core consisting of a thin soft magnetic film.

CONSTITUTION: Fluoroplastics and polyimide plastics such as polytetrafluoroethylene and polyimide having ≤1,000kg/mm2 modulus of elasticity are used as supporting materials 1, 2. The materials 1, 2 are formed of the org. materials having the smaller modulus of elasticity than the modulus of elasticity of glass and ceramics used previously as the materials 1, 2 and therefore the head surface deforms elastically with the dust intruded therein or the very small projections on a recording medium without generating any permanent damage. The surface of the material 1 of the thin film magnetic head is heated up to a high temp. in the stage of forming a magnetic core or winding on the material 1 directly by a vacuum deposition or sputtering method. The thin soft magnetic film is subjected to a heat treatment such as an annealing process in order to improve the magnetic characteristic of the thin soft magnetic film and therefore the substrate is heated up to a high temp. in this stage as well. The above- mentioned org. materials having heat resistance are thus required.
