Title:
THIN MOTOR FOR DISK DRIVING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06319246
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a thin motor having high torque output per unit volume by providing a ferromagnetic core having a specified minimum number of radially extending teeth and same number of intermediary slots wherein each tooth supports a corresponding multicoil winding individually. CONSTITUTION: A stator assembly 14 comprises a ferromagnetic core 30 and an individual winding 16 wound around the core. The core has a central part 62 from where a plurality of elongated teeth 64 extend radially to define a plurality of slots 66 at the corner part of gap between the teeth. Preferably, the number of teeth is at least eighteen. The coil 88 of each winding 16 is wound partially in the longitudinal direction of each tooth to form a tubular spiral, for example. Since the core 30 is provided with at least eighteen teeth each having a winding 16 being wound only around only one corresponding tooth, torque output can be sustained at a high level regardless of low capacity of motor.
