To provide a thin plate glass production method and a thin plate glass production device where, even in the case, to the tail of an original plate glass, the chip of the following original plate glass is successively welded, and the original plate glass is continuously fed, so as to continuously produce a thin plate glass, a homogeneous thin plate glass can be obtained.
In the method for producing a thin plate glass where, to the tail of an original plate glass 2, the chip of the following original plate glass 3 is successively welded, the original plate glass is continuously fed, and the original plate glass is heated and extended, so as to continuously produce a thin plate glass, upon the welding of the original plate glass 2 and the following original plate glass 3, heating is performed in such a manner that the welding connection part attains a glass viscosity in the vicinity of the softening point of the original plate glass, and they are welded, and further, heating is performed in such a manner that, upon a prescribed range facially widening from the welding connection part to the chip side and the tail side, temperature is gradually made low from the welding connection part toward the chip side and tail side.
