PURPOSE: To produce a take-up package being free from end breakage and a dyeing speck by providing the traverse driving controller which changes over a take-up device from the state of constant lease angle taking-up motion to that of constant wind ratio taking-up motion.

CONSTITUTION: When a startup signal is inputted in a sequence circuit 11, the circuit 11 actuates a spindle driving and a traverse driving inverter 3, 4 in which a fixed frequency command has been inputted from controllers 5, 7 to drive each of electric motors 1, 2. The number of the said motor revolutions is detected by detectors 8, 9 respectively, and a constant wind ratio taking-up controller 6 outputs a frequency command corresponding to traverse speed into a traverse driving controller 7 so that the wind ratio may become its pre- established value. Then, the transverse driving controller 7 compares an output signal delivered by a setting apparatus 70 for constant lease angle taking-up with an output signal delivered by the controller 6 to change over a take-up device from the state of constant lease angle taking-up motion to that of constant wind ratio taking-up motion. Thus, the take-up device can be automatically changed over, therefore, taking-up tension does not change, and end breakage and a dyeing speck can be prevented.
