Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect tire air pressure with high accuracy even in a high vehicle speed area regardless of a vehicle traveling state by extracting plural resonance frequencies of a tire from an oscillation frequency component of a wheel speed signal at vehicle traveling time, and estimating the tire air pressure on the basis of a resonance frequency selected by a switching means.
SOLUTION: Wheel speed sensors 2 to 5 are arranged with respective tires 1a to 1d of a vehicle so that AC signals having a period according to a rotating speed of rotors 2a to 5a, that is, the tires 1a to 1d are outputted from respective pickup coils 2b to 5b to be inputted to an ECU 6. Here, prescribed signal processing containing wave reshaping of the AC signals is performed to timely measure a wheel speed signal to extract an oscillation frequency component used to estimate tire air pressure from a vehicle traveling state. The result is displayed on a display part 7 by estimating the tire air pressure on the basis of the selected wheel speed signal by selecting an oscillation component large in a resonance frequency change to a tire air pressure change.
