PURPOSE: To prevent occurrence of wind noise in an elevator shaft in which a plurality of elevator cars run or a narrow elevator shaft, by determining a distance between the cars on running so that the speeds of the cars are lowered if the distance between the cars are within a predetermined value.
CONSTITUTION: A program is stored in a ROM 1b in a group-control device 1. An elevator car 6a starts when it aligns with an elevator car 6b, and just after, they are controlled under the program. At first, vehicle information such as vehicle positions, running directions, speeds and loads are inputted. If the vehicles run in the same direction, when the distance between the vehicles is within a predetermined distance L=2 stories and a speed difference between the cars is lower than a predetermined value V, the loads in the cars are compared. If the load in the car 6a is 60% while the load in the car 6b is 30%, a speed lowering instruction is delivered to the car 6b. Accordingly, the car 6b runs at a speed which is lower than that of the car 6a which runs at a higher speed, and accordingly, the distance between the cars gradually increases. When the distance between the cars is longer than L=2 stories, the speed lowering instruction to the car 6b is removed.
