Hydroxamic acids of 7-oxabicyclo (2.2.I) heptane substd. (or thioether) prostaglandin analogues of formula (I) including all stereoisomers are new. A = O or S(=O)q; q = 0-2; m = 1 or 2; n = 1-8; p = 1-5; X = O or S(=0)q'; q' = 0-2 when A = O or q' = O when A = S; R1 = H, lower alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, alkanoyl or aroyl; R2 = lower alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl or 2-12C alkenyl; ''lower'' alkyl (alone or as part of another gp) contains 1-12C and is opt. substd. with halo, CF3, alkoxy, aryl, alkaryl, haloaryl, cycloalkyl or alkylcycloalkyl; aryl (alone or as part of another gp) contains 6-10C in the ring position and is opt. mono- or di-substd. by alkyl, halo and/or alkoxy; cycloalkyl (alone or as part of another gp) contains 3-12C and is opt. mono- or di-substd. by halo, lower alkyl and/or lower alkoxy; (CH2)m, (CH2)n and (CH2)p may independently contain 1 or 2 lower alkyl and/or halo substits.
