Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound showing excellent effect in vivo as an antibacterial agent against gram-positive bacteria.
CONSTITUTION: This compound is expressed by formula I (R1 is H 1-3C straight- chain alkyl; R2 is H or an OH-protecting group; R3 is H or a 2-5C aliphatic acyl). The compound of formula I is obtained by using a compound of formula II (R4 is a 2-5C aliphatic acyl) (salt) as a starting raw material. The hydroxyl group at the 3" position of the compound is methylated and the hydroxyl group at the 3 position of the lactone ring is acylated.
